It came out in the time period when I was phasing out of comics.Andrew Leonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13964775673414653644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8586403344533829376.post-76690556331286234332021-09-25T15:16:13.984-04:002021-09-25T15:16:13.984-04:00Now I'm reading The Man Without Fear - not qui...Now I'm reading The Man Without Fear - not quite as good as this one but still awfully strong. The Armchair Squidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13509001761075530940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8586403344533829376.post-88076626366742260092021-09-25T15:15:24.167-04:002021-09-25T15:15:24.167-04:00Grew up in Vermont, too.Grew up in Vermont, too.The Armchair Squidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13509001761075530940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8586403344533829376.post-51183900500829825982021-09-21T12:56:06.742-04:002021-09-21T12:56:06.742-04:00Yeah, this was a great run. It's been a long long time since I read it, of course, but now I want to read it again.Andrew Leonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13964775673414653644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8586403344533829376.post-1277643539078593722021-09-20T15:32:43.834-04:002021-09-20T15:32:43.834-04:00Frank Miller gets so much love for (some of) his B...Frank Miller gets so much love for (some of) his Batman comics (and things like Sin City, 300) that it’s become easy in recent years to forget how great his Daredevil was. For whatever reason, this seems to have started with the Ben Affleck movie that drew heavily from it, which itself happened a little before Miller’s work became, briefly, a hot Hollywood commodity. I loved the movie, too, by the way. Miller as a comics creator has long been one of the most devoted to the art of the craft. He always saw himself as chasing Will Eisner (who created the Spirit, which Miller adapted to film and which only baffled fans who had no idea how faithful Miller was being to the source material, or were simply burned out on Miller).
