Fortunately, the snow has melted since the photo above was taken, on March 15th.
A Perfect Manhattan combines rye whiskey with equal parts dry and sweet vermouth. It is so called because of the equal portions of the two kinds of vermouth. The drink was nice and it was certainly good to get back to whiskey drinks and the Manhattan family. I do prefer bitters to the dry vermouth but it was a pleasant variation. My recipe came from
The New York Bartender's Guide.
One of these days, I'm going to have to try a Manhattan.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you do!
DeleteBeautiful photo of the drink in the snow, even without the new Kattie !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
I took the shot but I must credit my wife with the framing for that one.
DeleteThe Scamp will be back next week.
I don't always like center based art but your photos has enough non center line to trick the mind. I like the shot.
DeleteHaha! I am not surprised to know that you put a lot more thought into these things than I do.
DeleteI like the photo and the drink :)
ReplyDeleteNever tried a Manhattan, Perfect or otherwise, but am partial to bitters in anything. Going to try making my own one of these days!
ReplyDeleteAt some point, I am hopeful my experiments will include a thorough exploration of bitters. With a Manhattan, they truly make the drink.
DeleteI don't think I've ever had a Manhattan. Our snow is gone, too. Now I'm waiting for warmer temps!
ReplyDeleteWe just got more today... Nothing like spring in northern New England!
