Overall, the project was a success in that the resulting drink was quite tasty. However, as may be apparent in the photo, the apples exploded in the oven. "You didn't core them?" said my wife. Well, no, the recipe didn't say I should. Oh well. Live and learn.
That sounds delicious. I didn't know you had to core apples before putting them in the oven.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I don't know about "have to" but I can see how it would have prevented the explosion. A few strategically placed skin punctures might have accomplished the same.
DeleteThe same as baking a potato.
DeleteMy thought exactly.
DeleteIt was quite nice.
ReplyDeleteOh I like this! Except for the danger bit -having been harshly burnt by an exploding potato I puncture everything before it goes in an oven - glad your apples didn't cause any injuries.
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteI am not sure on this but i would give it a try. You made me laugh about the exploding apples
ReplyDeleteYes, it was kind of funny.
DeleteSounds yummy :)
ReplyDeleteOh, it was!
DeleteThis is the kind of thing I would more than happily try if someone else made it, but I probably won't.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'd do it again. Not that I didn't enjoy it. It's nice. But I always feel like I end up wasting ingredients with NABs. As a family, we just don't drink enough fruit juice to justify buying it, or even squeezing/pressing it.
DeleteBut if I already had the ingredients on hand, I'd make it again.
I hate buying fruit juice for anything at this point. We use it the day I get it for whatever it is we're going ot use it for and the rest of it goes bad.
DeleteWhich is a problem, because my wife wants to have pineapple juice on hand for when she wants a pina colada, but we don't drink them often enough anymore to keep the pineapple juice.
So I've tried buying canned pineapple instead, which works better for using the juice, but we don't eat the pineapple.
Fruit for snacking is something we consume in vast quantities but not so much for juice or juicing. Citrus is sensible because lemons and limes, in particular, get used quite a lot in cooking. But even with oranges, I have to make a point of having some on hand for cocktails.
DeleteI would try this!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite nice.
DeleteThis sounds tasty. I bet it smells wonderful! :)

I would say the aromas were the highlight of the experience.
