Squid Mixes: Foghorn
A foghorn combines ginger beer and gin. My recipe comes from The New York Bartender's Guide. Ginger beer is a super heavyweight as far as flavor goes so pick one you like. The gin doesn't stand a chance.
The tail is really quite something. It is a source of fascination for all of us, her older feline sister included. So far, she seems to be maintaining a modest size for a Maine Coon but all of the other features are there. The tail is part of the package.
Yes, you have written of that before! Obviously, there's no reason not to enjoy it alone but for what it's worth, I'd say whiskey competes with ginger better than any other base liquor. I would suggest rye.
Have you mixed it with any kind of soda at all? Any you especially like? I wonder how it would mix with beer, actually - nothing too strong, maybe a lager. Or cider! Apple and ginger - mmm...
Adore the photo !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Cute, ain’t she?
DeleteThe tail looks like it almost doesn't belong. It is so fluffy.

DeleteI need to pick up some ginger beer.
ReplyDeleteDo you like it strong?
DeleteI haven't had any in a long time. Probably?
ReplyDeleteThe women in my house are huge ginger fans so strong is good for them. I prefer to back off a touch.
DeleteMy wife makes this great ginger liquor. We're currently out of it, though, so I guess we need to make some more.

Oh, she uses it to make all kinds of different cocktails, but I think I'm going to have to try it with the cider. That sounds good.
DeleteLet me know how it is.
