Gerber was another St. Louis Brown. He passed away in 1951, before the team moved to Baltimore. Primarily known for his fielding, Gerber had his best year at the plate in 1923: .281 batting average, 85 runs and 62 RBI. He made the All-Star team that year, as well. He later served as a minor league umpire.

For each letter of the A to Z Challenge, I will feature one player from Baltimore Orioles/St. Louis Browns history. I hope you will join me. I hope you'll also check out the other 1200+ blogs participating. See the full list at Tossing It Out.
