Squid Cooks: Stir-Fried Chicken with Broccoli

I got this recipe from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything: The Basics.  Typically of stir-fry, most of the work is in the prep.  I'd probably pick different vegetables next time - something in season - but the end result was decent.  The girl happily ate two bowls, always a good sign.  As I have written before, I've been making stir-fries for much of my life but usually with a bottled sauce.  Making my own is a new adventure.

  1. I usually do broccoli with beef. I don't think it pairs as well with chicken.

    1. Interesting. I suppose that is the more common pairing one sees in restaurants.

    2. Chicken is just too mild to stand up against the broccoli.

  2. Stir-fry is my go to lunch or dinner. I toss in whatever is leftover abit of this or that.

  3. Broccoli is my favorite vegetable. I'll eat it with just about anything, but not a peanut butter sandwich.

    1. I don't eat PB so mine is an uninformed opinion but I can see how that probably wouldn't work.

  4. I eat a lot of veges as I've cut down the carbs from my diet. I'll be trying this recipe.

  6. That’s one of my favorite takeout meals (second to sweet and sour pork). I’ll have to look up the recipe but I’m impressed by your chicken squares. Mine always lack any semblance of uniformity. Nice post AC!

    1. My advice: don't wait until the chicken is completely thawed to cut it.

  7. Broccoli has such a strong flavor that I thought that was the reason it was paired with beef. But this sounds great with chicken.
