A daiquiri combines lime juice, sugar and rum. I got my recipe from Eric Felten's
How's Your Drink? I haven't had much luck with frozen drinks in the past but this one turned out nicely. I expect I've been too skimpy on the ice historically - not a problem this time.
Lime juice and rum! It'll be the perfect drink to serve
Andrew and
Susan if they ever come over.
Looks so good:)
ReplyDeleteIt was.
DeleteI've been playing with daiquiris lately!
ReplyDeleteBut not frozen ones.
I've been comparing them with margaritas.
I'm not actually sure which I prefer at this point.
But, like I said, I haven't made a frozen one yet.
So, you know, whenever you want to have me over for one. :P
Tequila intrigues me. I haven't played around with it much yet but I'd like to. I'm eyeing it as a vodka substitute for bloody maries...
DeleteMy Aunt Vada used to make daiquiris when I was 19, visiting her. A sip was enough alcohol for me then, but my taste buds remember.
ReplyDeleteAnd, anything with lime is good.
Did she have a blender?
DeleteMy sister used to make daiquiris, but I never cared much for them. They were a high octane slushy that could easily take you beyond your limit.

That is definitely the danger with such drinks: you forget you're drinking alcohol. It's another solid argument for whiskey: it competes better with mixers than other base liquors.
